The proposal of the online poker legislation is a part of a possible budget deal too. The state authorized a few new brick-and-mortar casinos to help struggling update economics.

Last year at an online poker hearing said bringing card game to the Internet may not be possible until the new casinos are built. However, this not may be the case henceforth, if beliefved to a report from GamblingCompliance.

The online poker proponents in the Empire State’s legislature quoted Assembly Member Gary Pretlow, “If I can get assurances that the brick-and-mortar operations are all a part of it, then we will probably move the bill this year.”

On Tuesday the State Assembly pass a bill too to legalize mixed martial arts and The New York Times points the state is warming to activities that it earlier had viewed as illicit.

Apart from all these, the neighboring state New Jersey is said to be holding a referendum later this year in November whether to bring to end the casino monopoly of Atlantic City. If it is passed, some new casinos could come up close to the New York City and this may eat away the potential revenue.
